Progress on a new dahlia illustration. This is going to be the example painting for my next Skillshare class.

Since I’m aiming for “vintage-inspired” I’m letting myself get a bit more stylized rather than going for pure realism. It’s on a very heavyweight hot pressed paper, so I’ve already added about as much pigment as I can. Currently testing a new fixative on a scrap of this same paper and going to compare to my standby. Hopefully I’ll be able to add some more on top to get a few additional details.✨l
