“This was an initial idea for #CaptainAmerica for #InfinityWar. We tried a lot of different things for him and one of them was that he had left his Cap costume totally behind.” — Ryan Meinerding, Character Designer, Concept Artist and Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development
(I’m posting this less to correct the timeline portrayed in Bohemian Rhapsody, which I mostly really enjoyed, than simply to share a beautiful story that shines light on who Freddie actually was, up to the very end, via twitter.)
Disabled people are labeled as failures and literally considered unworthy of living if they can’t be independent.
Meanwhile, it’s socially acceptable for abled men to expect women to be their servants, to the point that women who refuse to cook or clean for a man are told that they’ll die alone.
Autistic people are assumed to lack empathy as an excuse to see them as subhuman.
Meanwhile, abled men are actively encouraged to lack empathy.
I can find no lie, nor even any untruth, here.
In fact it’s considered a symbol of social success to completely outsource most domestic care and administrative and finance arrangements for yourself to paid subordinates, but if that “driver” you have is because you’re just not able to drive instead of ~too important~ that’s … bad somehow? If you pay someone to clean your kitchen because you’re Busy then you’re Successful but if you pay someone to clean your kitchen because you’re chronically ill you’re a Failure it makes 0 sense
Society teaches disabled people who need extra help they’re worthless while teaching abled men they’re entitled to services disabled people need.
