Spread this message. If you’ve had content flagged you need to check if Tumblr has muted your blog. Your posts will still show up on the dash of followers but your most recent posts will be from hours ago (up to 48 hours prior) on your actual blog URL. Make a test post and post it to your blog. Go to your blog url in an incognito window and see if the post you just made can be seen. If it can you’re good. If not Tumblr has muted your blog.
Check your blogs lads. Just in case.
Darn, so that’s what happened to me!
What are the steps when Muted?
If you think tumblr cannot get any worse…………… I am just loss for words….
You have a world. A universe. A setting. Good! Describe what happens in it normally – describe your main character(s)’s daily life. Now, what would destabilize this routine completely? If many things could, write them all down. Pick your favourite idea(s). Plots are born from change: everything was going normally… until it wasn’t.
Make a list with all the goals/motivations of your main characters.
Can the plot revolve around your characters going after these goals?
Which goals are more important? Focus on those.
Are different characters’ goals in conflict with each other? Conflict is usually what propels a story forward.
What could go wrong in your character’s pursuit of their goal? Make it go wrong.
If you don’t know your characters’ goals, go back to the drawing board; they probably need more development.
If there’s not enough conflict of different motivations, make a new character who creates conflict!
How do you want your main character to have changed by the end of the story? Do you want them to be less selfish? To have come to terms with a part of themself? To have learned something new? Write down ideas that could accomplish this change.
If you can’t think of any way your character could be changed (read: improved) by the end of the story, go back to the drawing board. They might be “too perfect”.
Notes:
The change that triggers your plot can be anything. It doesn’t have to be the start of an epic war that will bring forth the apocalypse, it can be your character meeting a new person who shakes things up in their life, or anything you want!
Motivations can be anything. It doesn’t have to be something grand – if your character’s motivation is to just live a quiet life, you can still come up with a plot that will get in the way of that goal!
Character development can be anything, as well – you don’t need a cliché moral to the story; your character doesn’t even need to change in a good way, if that’s not what you want for your story!
This is what I’ve found works for me, but if you try it and it doesn’t, or if it sounds way too sententious and strict for you – that’s okay! Take it with a grain of salt! Maybe you think your characters are just fine and don’t need more developing even in the situations in which I recommended you “go back to the drawing board”, or maybe you have better ways of coming up with a plot. That’s fine, the writing process can be very personal!
As someone who regularly creates worlds and characters I love but has no idea what to write for a plot this is super useful!
Hey all, I know there’s a lot of what the heck is going on issue, and here’s some information I gathered:
You can post, people can see it on their dash, but when you go to a blog, it is not on their first page.
You can only access it in their archives.
Or on another page, but it is out of order.
This is frustrating, especially if you’re NOT an explicit blog.
As a content creator, this is extra frustrating.
I’m positive this is a bug as they fix the filtering systems, however, here’s what I suggest in the meantime:
Stop your Queue/Don’t post new creative content (or do so, but know it won’t show on your first page)
Update your bio to let followers know that you are indeed active and where to find new posts
Send an email to staff, such as this:
Hello,
While my recent posts appear on the dashboard, they are not appearing on the first page of my blog. Instead, they can only be accessed through the archive or on other pages, but out of order. Is this currently a sitewide bug due to correcting the filtering system? Have I been muted, and if so, what would be the reason for this and what can I do to correct it? As a content creator this is detrimental.
Thank you and best regards,
(Your name)
I’m sure this will be fixed as it appears to be a widespread issue. But until then, let’s stay calm.
Okay, so if you’ve noticed that when you go to your front page, a lot of old posts are randomly resurfacing and your new posts are getting buried under them no matter what you do, there’s a REALLY EASY fix for it!
Just go into the resurfaced old post, and edit it in some way. In my case, I added a tag that said “test”. Any kind of edit to the post will be fine as long as you save the changes. Edit: You might not even have to edit it! Just save the post again. If you have Xkit’s mass post tagger that might work as well? I didn’t test it.
Then I reloaded my front page and behold! The old post was back in my archives where it belonged!
(Incidentally, if the theory that this behavior is caused by posts getting flagged and unflagged, then you can see which posts of mine tumblr’s bot thought were nsfw by looking at the test tag)
It’s working, I did it for my side blogs! Thank you so much to you and to Pethkurayami who took the time to send me this link. ♥
This is working and I did it for both of my blogs.
Disability benefits should be the equivalent of a full time job on living wage. Things don’t cost less because you’re disabled – in fact you often have additional costs of living. You shouldn’t be forced into poverty because you are disabled.
Before anyone comes in with ’ but then ppl would lie so they didn’t have to work!’
Two responses
Universal basic income + better wages is the way forward
Who fucking cares? Not me. This insistence that ppl lie to get benefits and as a result benefits should be a fucking pittance that it’s humiliating to apply for just fucks over disabled people and is inhumane
Added to this:
No retesting of permanent disabilities.
It is huge stress for people with autism or lost limbs or so forth to be retested, especially when they’re often denied – every two years or less – their benefits and forced to appeal and then get back what they originally had (or less) … it’s weeks without income, which has sent many people homeless or forced them into short-term loans and debt they can’t escape. It’s barbaric.
Also, payments made during appeal – if they don’t deserve the cash, they can repay over time, but if they do then you’ve stopped them from going into debt and/or being made homeless. The whole system needs a huge overhaul, especially with the assessors being paid per person chucked off the system.
It’s absolutely dehumanising to say the least.
And no more marriage/cohabitation policies so that people whose only source of income is those benefits can use them to contribute to a partnership instead of having them yanked away on the grounds that “your spouse can support you now.”
Make basic living income a thing.
Retesting of chronic illness and disabilities is crazy
